Studio MDHR has announced that their “Delicious Last Course” DLC (get it?) for the popular 2D title will be delayed until 2020 while the dev team is busy “making sure this new adventure meets the meticulous level of care and quality we always strive for.”
Of particular interest in a post on the Studio MDHR blog, the developer mentions that they’re striving to keep their team out of “crunch time,” a highly-publicized game development practice of late that’s received an extraordinary amount of bad press – and rightly so. Crunch time is the notorious practice of publishers and developers forcing staff to work unreasonable and unsustainable hours in order to achieve unrealistic launch dates.
As we’re huge fans of Cuphead, we’d absolutely hate for any ills to befall the amazing staff at Studio MDHR – we’d much rather be patient and can use this delay to play through the game a 4th time.
Cuphead’s Delicious Last Course is due to release in 2020 on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows 10 via Steam, GOG, and the Windows Store.
